Sushi Sandwich @ Aeon Station 18, Ipoh

Sorry I haven’t been blogging for a long time here. I’ve been having a lot of personal problems and didn’t have the mood to blog. But now I’m blogging again, yay.

Ever since the opening of Aeon Station 18 Ipoh, I’ve been going there a lot. One of the main reasons being the food. Compared to Kinta City’s Aeon (formerly known as Jusco) they have a lot more ‘Japanese food’ choices that are fresh. Every time I go there, I must buy their sushi. One day, I found this quite new type of sushi available and it’s called ‘Sushi Sandwich‘.

At Aeon Station 18, they have tako or octopus as sushi filling but they don’t have that at Kinta City. At Kinta City it’s mainly kani mayo or mayonnaise crab. I’ve been addicted to tako lately so that’s why I prefer buying sushi at Aeon Station 18 instead. So when I found this sushi sandwich for the first time I was like eh? I must try this! So I bought one called ‘Sushi Sandwich Seafood‘ which has tako and if I’m not mistaken salmon filling. So 2 flavors in one pack.

As appealing as it looks, with a nice decoration at each ends with fake plastic ‘grass’, it’s very sticky. Compared to my favorite onigiri where it’s wrapped in special wrapping, when the seaweed/nori touches each other, it becomes soft. So sushi sandwich does not have the ‘crunch’ of the nori but instead it sticks together. It was also hard to take each one out because not only it’s sticky, but the whole sushi just falls apart! The rice, the filling, everything.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t taste as great as it looks. I prefer their onigiri more than this sushi sandwich. However it’s a nice idea but you can’t keep it for long because it’ll become too soft for my liking or in another word, not so fresh. But if you’re hungry, what the heck right? But the amount of filling you get is acceptable so I guess that gives it a plus point.

It cost RM4.88 per pack and at the time I bought it, there were 3 flavors – Sushi Sandwich Cheese, Mayo & Seafood.
