Buffet Ramadhan 2018 @ BGR Restaurant, Bangi Golf Resort

Bangi Golf Resort is having their buffet Ramadhan at their BGR Restaurant from 19th May – 13th June 2018.

BGR Restaurant is HALAL certified by JAKIM and is one of the very few golf resorts in Malaysia to receive this accreditation since 2009. It also has the honor of being the most Halal Compliant Restaurant in Selangor and received the coveted award from Menteri Besar of Selangor in 2017.

Fulfilling the promise of ensuring all items to be promptly refilled and made available on the buffet until the last diner has eaten his / her fill while working on the concept of zero waste; BGR Restaurant will be partnering Food Aid Foundation to donate and rescue any surplus food from its Buffet Ramadhan to feed the hungry and needy.

Also, during the month of Ramadhan this year, BGR Restaurant will be contributing 1% of its Buffet Ramadhan Revenue to Islamic Relief Malaysia (IRM) in order to help empower the community and providing humanitarian aids to the disadvantage.

I drove all the way from Ipoh to Bangi. From KL, it took me about an hour-ish to drive to Bangi and it wasn’t that hard to find the place with GPS navigation.

Before the buffet, the media/bloggers people had the opportunity to visit their farm. It’s a bit further up so we had to queue and wait for the vans to take us to the farm. You definitely can’t just walk there because it’s quite far.

The farm is huge but at the moment, it seems empty. You have to wait for a few years to see how well they’ve grown it.

Then we had the ‘Durian Runtuh’ party with the media! They didn’t even limit how much Durians we could have. You have no idea how happy this made me.

It made my trip all the way from Ipoh all worth it.

Look at how beautiful my durian is!

It was the sweet kind and I really enjoyed it. Took some back to my mom who was waiting at the restaurant. She enjoyed it as well. This fulfilled my craving for durians. Glad the weather was beautiful too.

You can actually order Durians from them for Iftar or Hari Raya. Pre-ordering of the durians (Musang King and D24) can be done via their website.

Before the buffet, there was a pre-dinner cocktail and also a special area to take your pictures (and they will print it out). Seriously, out of all of the buffet Ramadhan previews, this has got to be the best one I’ve been to.

They have a machine for making churros! So the churros would be freshly made right in front of your eyes and then fried. I was so excited to try it because I love churros.

Then you can take the warm chocolate sauce for your churros. Not in the picture but they also make their own gelato next to it.

The roti jala station with some curry.

Buffet Ramadhan 2018 @ Bangi Golf Resort 1

And they even have a machine for making roti jala! It’s amazing. It was my first time seeing a machine that could make perfect and beautiful roti jala. And it’s actually fascinating to watch how the machine works.

My churros and gelato, all freshly made at their station before the start of the dinner.

Do you have any idea how DELICIOUS the ‘homemade‘ churros, chocolate syrup and freshly churned gelato are when eaten together? It’s AMAZING and you need to try it for yourself.

Pulut Kuning with serunding.

I also highly recommend this.

The crowd was huge, mostly the invited guests brought their family along so it wasn’t just the media. I felt like it was some kind of a big event, like a wedding or something. Took me by surprise too.

After the chef gave a word, all the media and bloggers walked up to the stage to take pictures of the featured dishes.

A++ for effort in decorations. They did put in so much effort to decorate the everything and this is by far the best one I’ve seen.

The live station for the Sous Vide Eggs with Mushroom Espuma.

For a more hearty and classic option, the Chicken Lasagna and Spaghetti Carbonara are always a family favorite. If you’re a fan of creamy pasta, I highly recommend the carbonara (you could choose a different type of pasta) because I really loved it.

Featuring produce grown in their very own “Farm in the City” located within the premises of Bangi Golf Resort, the chefs will be harvesting organic vegetables and serving them during Buffet Ramadhan, providing guests with a unique “farm to fork” dining experience.

Try their Nasi Kerabu, a rice dish served with home grown ulam (raw vegetables and herbs), fried salted fish, fish crackers and a selection of garnishing. The natural blue color of the Nasi Kerabu comes from the petals of bunga telang (a blue flower) grown in their farm.

You can look forward to the popular Cooking Showcase, where the highlight is their Kambing Bakar (lamb slow-roasted on the spit) and Sup Kambing Mamak (Indian style Mutton Stew). At this station, chefs will serve up portions of freshly carved roast lamb and piping hot bowls of mutton stew.

At BGR Restaurant’s Buffet Ramadhan, desserts are a must try with favorites such as the Spanish Churros with Thick Chocolate Sauce, signature Italian Tiramisu, a selection of homemade Malay kuih as well as a variety of puddings, agar-agar, and tropical fruits. Not to forget their Freshly Churned Gelato – in the unique flavors of Durian and Bunga Kantan will once again be making its comeback.

A new range of desserts has also been added in 2018 such as Salted Caramel Brownies, Bandung Lychee Cheese Cake, Pina Colada Cheese Cake, Blueberry Crème Brulee Cake, Talas Salted Corn, The Patissier Mocha Fudge Cake, Red Velvet Durian Mousse in-a-cup, Pandan Gula Melaka Mousse in-a-cup and Cendol Mousse in-a-cup.

Buffet Ramadhan 2018 @ Bangi Golf Resort 1

They had the most desserts I’ve ever seen. It was insane and I was amazed. From local to international desserts available for you to choose from and they all looked so delicious.

Buffet Ramadhan 2018 @ Bangi Golf Resort 1

You can also enjoy freshly grilled Beef & Chicken Satay as well as Fried Kway Teow and Fried Mee Mamak, wok-fried ‘live’ before you.

Buffet Ramadhan 2018 @ Bangi Golf Resort 1

The lamb was good. I had to queue up quite a while to get it, though. But it was worth it.

Buffet Ramadhan 2018 @ Bangi Golf Resort 1

These were some of the desserts I decided to try from their massive selection. That salted caramel brownies were absolutely delicious! It was my most favorite one. If only I was so full, I would’ve tried more.

Sous Vide Eggs with Mushroom Espuma.

It looks fancy, doesn’t it? Taste-wise, I could describe it as half boiled it in thick mushroom soup. But it’s not exactly that. According to Wikipedia, Sous-vide is a method of cooking in which food is placed in a plastic pouch or a glass jar and then placed in a water bath or steam environment for longer than normal cooking times at an accurately regulated temperature.

This is one unique food that you have to try.

I put together a short video of the buffet in the video below. You could also watch it on Youtube.
