Nasi Kandar Pelita Ipoh @ Tesco, Ipoh

I haven’t been updating this site for months.. been neglecting it again. I’m slowing trying to revive it and hopefully I won’t neglect it again. I always want to do food review but then I got busy with something else.

Mee Goreng Nasi Kandar Pelita @ Tesco, Ipoh

When you go to Tesco Ipoh (it’s the main one, located at Jalan Jambu, near Aeon Kinta City) there aren’t many choices for places to eat. There is of course the food court which I always avoid because you know the quality of majority food court. There’s one popular mamak place that I’m sure is no stranger to many people – Nasi Kandar Pelita Ipoh.

It’s a small branch from the popular Pelita franchise located inside Tesco. Of course it serve the typical rice and all that but to me, they seem to be quite expensive. But one thing I noticed is that many people are eating their mee goreng (fried noodle) so one day I decided to try it too.

Best decision ever.

Mee Goreng (Fried Noodle) – RM3.50

A plate of mee goreng cost RM3.50 but trust me, there’s a LOT of it. It’s best when it’s hot, right out of the pan. It’s typical mee goreng mamak (or mee goreng Pak Misai as written on the menu) but it’s not the typical dry type which I hate. The ingredients are common for mee mamak type.. so it means no chicken or meat or shrimp. It is SO GOOD. Most of the people who eats there, if they’re not eating rice, they must be eating mee goreng.

It’s weird though, I’m not a big fan of mee (noodle). I’ve tried their fried koay teow version but it’s just not the same.. not the same consistency, and if I remember correctly it was dry as well. Hmm, maybe I should try it again next time just to see if I am wrong.

The waiters are okay, some don’t know much malay because they’re from India, but they can still understand the basic orders. They can be friendly at times when there are no customers, but during peak hours like lunch time, they will be very busy.

UPDATE DEC 29th 2015: Nasi Kandar Pelita is no longer operating at Tesco Ipoh and has been replaced by Di Naina Restaurant.
